Why this site exists

Bird cages are sold by a box size that says nothing about whether a bird can stretch its wings, and by bar spacing that is printed in inches on one listing and millimeters on the next. We take the size and spacing guidance from avian veterinarians and welfare bodies, read the makers' own dimensions, and say which cage fits which bird and why.

What we cover

• Cages by bird. Parakeets, cockatiels, conures, lovebirds, African greys, macaws, finches and canaries, each with the sizes and bar spacing that fit.

How the guides are made

Guides are researched and written with the help of AI tools, working from the documents listed at the end of each page: maker spec sheets and manuals, standards and government pages, and owner reports. Figures are checked against those sources, and a guide names its source when a number comes from somewhere other than the maker. The full process is on our methodology page.
